Spirit Airlines baited media outlets into providing free publicity a few months ago with a 99% off sale.
Huff Post even thought it might be “the deal of the century.”
In reality, it was an average sale from which a small percentage of people could actually get great value (due to fine print, excluded routes, and all the best deals being insanely long itineraries).
Frontier seems to be trying out this marketing method this month, offering three 75% off promos and three 90% off promos in August alone. Continue reading
Frontier Airlines is going ham on sales this week.
After making headlines earlier in the week for 2-cent fares ($15 after tax), they brought back the 90% off sale today, this time on flights to and from Florida only.
There’s also a mediocre 50% off Florida sale, with additional dates.
Thing is, they exclude what looks like a huge chunk of their Florida routes? Continue reading
If you recently used car-rental booking site AutoSlash, you’ve probably noticed a big change.
They used to send you a grid that showed you the cheapest rates, like this:
Now they just give you a Priceline link, like this:
I was initially aghast at what seemed to be a majorly negative change. Continue reading
Update: Frontier extended this sale through the end of 8/25.
We recently posted about how Frontier’s 75% off promos were getting kind of old.
Did they hear us? Because they just upped the ante.
Check it out:

All the buses from the airport to the city are done for the day.
You want to get to the city, but don’t want to pay handsomely for a taxi ride.

So this is a niche topic, so what?
Frontier gave me a $100 voucher recently because they canceled my flight three months out.
The voucher kept failing to apply when I tried to use it today, so I saw no choice but to call them up and try booking the flight by phone.
I’ve used Frontier vouchers before, but it didn’t work this time.
Frontier’s call center is open 24/7: Continue reading
In only its 10th year, San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival has quickly built itself a prominence rivaling the Coachellas, Lollapaloozas, Bonnaroos and Glastonburys.
It wasn’t all sunny vibes this year though, as legendary American hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest canceled their Saturday main stage set, a move that was announced to fans about 10 minutes before the scheduled set.
Brits and Aussies ruled the festival instead, with headliners Alt-J and Gorillaz on Friday, Aussie artist Empire of the Sun on Saturday, and The Who and Above & Beyond on Sunday.

Frontier offers promo code sales several times per month, but usually the 75% off one only happens a few times per year.
Even though there was one last month, there’s another today through the end of 8.9.
I finally called up Citi today to cancel my beloved Citi Prestige credit card.
The $450 annual fee hit my account last week, and Citi recently cut one of my favorite card benefits (Admiral Club access when flying American), so it was time to say bye.
I told the automated system I wanted to close my card.
“If you would like to close, please say ‘close,'” it said.
“Close,” I replied.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get that.”
“CLOSE.” Continue reading
