Lyft has an insane sign-up bonus offer for new drivers in the Los Angeles area.
I noticed this at the bottom of my Lyft receipt this week:
This offer started back in May and is limited to the first 1,000 applicants, but apparently it is still available.
Check out how much of a Lyft credit bonus you could make for referring a driver in your city.
One thousand rides in 90 days is a ton, but it would be completely doable for a full-time driver. Drivers who do 100 rides per week can rent a GM car for free in cities where Lyft has rolled out Express Drive. In three months, those drivers will have completed at least 1,200 rides.
I was unable to track down any drivers who had completed this offer, but here is a driver forum where drivers share their thoughts on the offer.
A friend and I once made $600 each when I referred him to drive for Uber and he completed 20 rides. He hasn’t driven for Uber since.
Uber must have lost a bunch of money on that promo, because I’ve seen them require at least 100 rides on all offers since then.
Here is Uber’s current offer for the SF market:
Please comment with any thoughts or questions.
Oh, and let me know if you live in LA and want to make a not-so-quick $5K.
Luke. I want to make 5 grand now that I’m retired see if you can convince them to do it in the Daytona market. Uncle Pat

Hey Jonathan, this promo has been gone for a while, but what you can do for these things is message Lyft when you’re signing up, to confirm what your bonus will be.
