Hotel review: Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa

Kalastajatorppa.

That may be the longest word I’ve ever typed.

The Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa’s name is about as long as the trek to get to it from the airport, but it’s a classic, waterfront hotel that can be enjoyed for just 25k Hilton Honors points per night.

The first good value SF Bay Area Hilton award redemption I’ve ever seen

Hilton announced a bunch of changes to its loyalty program yesterday (here and here are good summaries).

It got me checking out the new program, now called Hilton Honors instead of the old Hilton HHonors with the weird double H.

The simplified program and app design looks good:

Amex Hilton cards offering more points for adding authorizing users; 10K or 5K (targeted)

American Express offered 10K Hilton points a few months ago for adding an authorized user to the no-fee Amex Hilton card.

They must really like authorized users, because they’re trying again, though they are requiring some spending this time.

Hotel review: The Beverly Hilton & a photogenic fish

I was childishly psyched about the opportunity to travel to LA this week.

While looking at the list of available hotels near my employer’s LA office, I was surprised to see what one of the cheapest, closest options was — The Beverly Hilton.

This historic hotel is famous for hosting the annual Golden Globes Awards, and sadly, as the place where Whitney Houston was found deceased in her room’s bathtub in 2012. Continue reading
