While checking in for a recent award booking at the Holiday Inn Express Milan Nord – Zara, my girlfriend was pleased to learn they had upgraded her to a suite.
A “Ladies Room” suite.
Notice anything unique about this room?
That’s right, an exercise machine. Get to work ladies.
Other than the hair dryer and straightener set out on a table, I couldn’t figure out what else made this a “Ladies Room.”
In politically correct America this would seem sexist to some people, as it did to me. Since I’m not Milanese, I’ll not judge, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.
On with an overview of this hotel:
Cost? This hotel costs 20K IHG points/night, though it typically costs well under 100 Euros to book with cash.
Location? Though we were only passing through on our way up to Zurich, this hotel is located a little over a mile from a metro station that can take you into the heart of Milan, Italy in 20 minutes.
Food? The hotel has a restaurant, but a better option? Delicious, affordable and one block over, try the Share Cafe.

Elite benefits? Due to the Platinum Elite status that comes with Chase’s IHG credit card, my girlfriend received a free room upgrade and two free drink vouchers for use at the hotel bar.
Amenities? Plenty of free parking. Fast, free Wi-Fi. Two bottles of water. Robes and slippers. An in-room exercise machine.
Summary: This is a nice, very affordable hotel option for visiting the fashion, art, history and sports mecca of Milan, though this hotel seems more oriented toward business travelers.
We stayed at this hotel for free. Here’s my post on how to stay at really nice hotels for free. Here’s a review of a more luxurious hotel in Milan, the Park Hyatt.
Thoughts on the “Ladies Room” suite from Holiday Inn Express? I’d love to hear them.
Have a good one!
