Using these two opportunities together could provide a decent discount on a Sheraton stay, while also earning you some of the most valuable loyalty points out there: SPG points.

Starpoints, as they’re called, are so valuable because not only can you book free stays at nice hotels with relatively few points, but you can also transfer these points to a plethora of airlines. SPG even gives you a 5K-point bonus for every 20K points you transfer to an airline.

One disappointing note about the potential duo of discounts: For the 40% off promo, it looks like they use the flexible rate as the base rate for the promo, meaning you don’t save 40% on their cheapest rate.

Strangely, even though they seem to use the more expensive “flexible” rate, it appears the booking isn’t flexible and requires a deposit.

Still, in this example the promo appears to save about $8 per night over the other non-flexible option.

With these discounts together, you’re looking at saving about $70 on a $250+ stay at a Sheraton, plus earning some Starpoints. Could be good if you have a specific stay in mind.
